Is 2022 Ford Edge A Good Car?

Overview
Looking for a medium-sized SUV but don’t need three rows of seats? The 2022 Ford Edge and its two-row competitors are perfect choices, providing more space than most compact crossovers. Not only does this model look sensational, it offers either a turbocharged four-cylinder or the exclusive 335HP twin-turbo V6 – found exclusively in the performance ST trim!
With numerous competitors offering similar packages, like the Chevy Blazer, Honda Passport, Jeep Grand Cherokee and more; it’s hard to stand out. The Ford Edge does have lavish features such as a 12-inch infotainment display but lacks in design and quality materials that can take passengers away from their premium SUV dreams. Yet, some manufacturers will still offer you more refined options than others.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The base turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers 250 horsepower and should offer satisfying power for the majority of customers. If you’d like an SUV that can keep up with a Volkswagen Golf GTI in terms of speed, then choose the Edge ST–which comes equipped with a powerful 335-hp twin-turbo 2.7L V6 engine as well as standard all wheel drive capabilities –for your next vehicle!
Although it may not match the nimble driving of its athletic counterpart, the Mazda CX-9, and is no slouch in terms of cornering. The steering offers a natural feel while still being weighted just right with a pleasant ride on bumpy roads. In short, you can always count on the Edge to provide an enjoyable drive that’s sure to be stable!
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
Four-cylinder models are rated by the EPA for up to 29 mpg highway, and even the sporty ST model manages to earn a 25-mpg highway rating. We haven’t tested the four-cylinder with its new eight-speed automatic yet, but on our 75-mph fuel-economy loop the ST managed 25 mpg, matching its estimate. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Several desirable driver-assistance technologies are standard—including automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring—with more advanced features offered as options. For more information about the Edge’s crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.
Is the Ford Edge a reliable car?
The Ford Edge received pretty good ratings in terms of reliability. It got 3.5 out of 5.0 on RepairPal, ranking 11th out of 26 vehicles in the same category. The Edge is known for providing superior performance and precise handling while also being practical, with excellent fuel-economy.
Why did Ford discontinue the Edge?
The 2023 Ford Edge is this midsize SUV’s last gasp. Ford announced it will discontinue the Edge after the 2023 model year as it continues its push toward an all-electric lineup. Therefore, the 2023 is a carryover model. There is no shakeup in the trim-level lineup.
